I received a comment from a reader in regards to the upcoming closings of more LA Weightloss Centers. The individual states that LA Weightloss Centers in Eastern Washington will be closing. If you belong to one of these centers, it might be a good time to get your money back or at least check into it.
I’m just sharing this information. I have know way of validating it. But it’s worth checking out if you belong to one of these weightloss centers.
I think that rumor is true about LA weight loss centers closing because I was a member at LA weight loss and I noticed they changed their name to pure weight loss. I never questioned it because I had already completed the weeks that I had paid for but I still had several boxes of LA lites that I had paid for and never picked them up from the center that I was a member at so I’m going to go pick them up this weekend so that I will be done with LA weight loss/pure weight loss. When I go I will find out why they changed their name, and post another comment once I find out.
Thanks for keeping me abreast of this change. I know that this information will help many of the readers. Have a great weekend.
I had heard about pure.
Chris have you tried la? I did weight watchers. WW was cheaper due gto the fact you don’t have to buy the bars.
No I’ve never tried it. After reading this website on ripoffs, I’m glad I didn’t. There were testimonials from 2003, 2004 telling about the hidden costs and the inability to get refunds when they tried to quit. I remember one of the women saying she had her bank stop payment on a $1800 and some odd dollars they charged her. There were others that were in the thousands as well. Yikes!!!
thats weird they are popping up hear in florida.
LA Weight Loss Centers in Eastern Washington are closing. I am on maintenance and went to weigh in on Thursday 9/20/07 in Spokane, WA. They informed me, they were told the day before the office was closing and they don’t even know if they will be open this Thursday!! I have still not received my first rebate and now it looks like I probably will never see any rebates! I still have boxes of LA Lites paid for (from over a year ago) and they aren’t getting any more in so they will send them to me. I probably won’t ever see those either!
There is this terrific company named Nutrition in Motion, check out NIMdiet.com. They are based out of Toronto but also serve the Ottawa region as well. NIM is a diet delivery service that is awsome, just choose a diet, pick the meals you want and they deliver breakfast, lunch and dinner to your doorstep every morning. Great meals that focus on portion control and healthy eating. I’ve have lost 17 pounds in 4 weeks and still going strong. Help spread the word, they are worth every penny.
I’ll make a post about this NIM diet company. It’s nice to hear good things about a weight loss business. Good luck with your weight loss.
I am also on the maintanice program and after reading this I called the Spokane location and a recording referred me to the corporate office. I called last week and according to that recording someone would call back withing 48 hrs., didn’t happen so I called again yesterday. Has anyone had any luck with corporate?
I live in OK and long story short, I quit going to LA in February even though I still had time left on my contract. The women working there seemed more than clueless (i.e. telling me that plain marinara with grilled shrimp equaled a bad food choice).
Anyway, I got my 1st call from the center in 8 months telling me I should come back. I laid it on the line about why I thought it was a waste of my time.
She said the store had been taken over by corporate because of the mismanagement. She said I could come back and start where I left off if I wanted to do so.
I’m going to check it out tonight since i’ve already paid tons of money to do it. We’ll see if it is really any better.
I haven’t received any emails in regards to dealings with the Corporate office of LA Weight Loss. Sorry I can’t be of any help. I promiste to I will post information as I get it.
The readers are going to be intrested in hearing how your meeting goes at the OK site since it’s new take over by corporate. Please come back and let us know.
Usually when a company changes its name frequently or periodicly, it indicates that something illegal is happening and customers are disappointed. when I logged on their website, I clicked on the zip code tab and it took me to a web stie called Pure Weight Loss. Hummmm made me think that something was definetly wrong.
I need to know where I can get in writing the hours of operation for LA Weight Loss. My location cut the hours back after I joined.
MAT
Mat, Since some of the LA Weight Loss Centers are corporate owned and others are owned by individuals, the hours are not going to be uniform for the business.
I think they are closing all over the place–I WAS an employee until just a couple of days ago–in Ky and WV they have laid all of us off and only kept one counselor in the centers–you can’t do a good job with only a staff of one–some of those that were left have locked the doors and not gone back–clients can’t get the help or the products they need–as a company they could have at least told us what is going on–all we hear is get us through till the first of the year. O.K. then what job or no job? Does anyone know anything about this???
Pure Weight Loss is such a scam. I’m not even that overwieght…maybe i need to lose 10lbs..they took my money..500. and the people that are my so called counslers are gastric bypass candidates. I have to take the hit. They only give you three days to get a refund. I hope the owners all go to Federal(pound you in the ass) Prison.
I just found out that a center in SoCal that’s only been open for a year and a few months, is closing! That can’t be a good sign…and not a very merry Christmas for it’s employees.
Vibrantgirl, I wonder if those employees were any type of notice the place was closing. It seems in most cases, there was no warning to employees or customers when the doors were locked.
I work for Pure Weight Loss (lA Weightloss) and we just got word that ALL centers and the website will be closing there doors on January 4, 2008.
Okay.. Pure Weight Loss employee here…
As of today…. 11am.. we got the news.. we are closing our doors. All Pure Weight Loss Centers are closing across the nation. We are still unsure about the LAWL centers (these are franchises that had remained LAWL rather than Pure (company owned stores)
And for real, ALL.. Pure Weight Loss has the BEST absolutely Best plans for weight loss. I have been with this company for along time and I have seen many, many miracles…
They are definitely closing all over the country. The counselors and employees at my center were devastated today at being suddenly laid off (one today, the others in 3 weeks).
This is the first and only plan I’ve ever done and it is going great for me (I’ve lost over 25 lbs since late September and have only about 14 more to go). I’m sad to see them close, but they have assured me that I’ll be reimbursed for unused time and products. I hope to be able to keep up the good work on my own at this point.
Yep, a VERY merry X-mas!! thanks Vahn (the owner) . I work(ed) for LA/Pure WL and also just found out today that i no longer have a job! after 3 years of service there, nothing like telling us right b4 x-mas and after the shopping is done and the money on presents for the kids spent. WHat a selfish ^%&^%. The higher ups had no clue either. AT our center, we still had people spemding $$ and joining yesterday, and they switched the contracts to no refunds(so that tells me that they knew they were closing and were just out to take $$ from the clients, knowing they were closing). I was told to go home and as i understand, 1 counselor will be at each center until Jan 4th . I bet they won’t even make it until then. ALl the centers are already wiped out of stuff! SOOOOO many clients had just spent over a thousand on bars and now they will not see them(totally doubt they will ever see the $$ for them either). We were told to tell the clients to fill out a refund. BUT…what about the clients that are away right now or have not been in in a few weeks and know nothing about this? Ladies/Gents, i loved my job and loved helping u all loose weight. I am so sorry and now i have no job and no $$. Oh and b4 i 4 ge, When i left this afternoon, as far as then, the hours were going to be the same this week but next week, they will be closed on Tues/thurs and only open for a few hours on those days in between , just to let the clients know what’s going on. I hope Vauhn (the owner) gets what he did, KARMA is a PITA!! I wish i could sue!!
It’s true…we were told today that the company is closing it’s doors as of 01/2008. We were kept in the dark, just as the clients were. Please keep that in mind when you call your centers.
Try Physician’s Weight Loss Centers. Not alone are they better than LA but they also have medical behind them. Each center has a physician and nurse along with counselors. They have almost 30 years experience. I have lost 60 pounds with no medicine and know many more that have lost that and more. From Tupelo, MS
It is true! I also worked for the company for a long time and I am ashamed to have been affiliated with such a selfish organization. To all of you clients, I would get in there before the 4th…. and get your bars you pre-paid for. Don’t count on your money. they will have you fill out a refund form but I guarentee they are simply buying time until they file and then you no longer have anyone to go after. They should feel ashamed of how they treated not only the clients but the employees who got into this business for the right reasons only to leave feeling like a worthless worn out piece of trash. I hope they get what they deserve! Tell every one you know that is on the program to spread the word and to go and pick up any product owed to them before it’s too late.
I live in NY City and I just called my Pure center today to give my weight since it’s snowing here and she started crying telling me that she was just informed that ALL Pure Centers are closing Jan. 1. I have about $750 in bars coming to me and I just bought additional weeks for $30. She told me that I could fill out a form and send it to corporate to get my money back for the additional weeks and to come in for the bars that I’m owed. I’m afraid that there will be no bars left when I get there. Now that I look back I paid about $1500 to lose 20 pounds and the women there looked like they’ve never been on a diet. I’m embarrassed to tell people how much I paid.
I am a client of Pure Weight Loss. I live in RI…As of yesterday December 12, 2007…All Pure Weight Loss Businesses will be closed by January 2008..I stopped in a center yesterday and was shocked when I was told this, as customer after customer was coming in to take the bars that they had paid advance for, as the word got around. My mother stopped in today and their shelves were already bare, she was given a slip to send to corporate to have her bars sent to her home from their so called warehouse. The company has come to the near end of ripping off people, but not quite as I am sure that my mother will never receive the bars that she paid hundreds in advance for..Ripped In RI…by a company with the name of PURE!
Please, don’t blame the employees! My market has hung in there and have stayed on til the end to HELP the clients! These people are without jobs, without notice, without severence pay, without vacation or sick pay earned. They are just OUT right at the holidays. We have enjoyed helping each client acheive their weight loss goals and would love to continue to help but how can we? We are now unemployed. Just go to the center, get the product owed to you, and if you feel you should be refunded fill out the application and send it in. On behalf of my staff, we wish each of you a lighter and healthier life and happy holidays.
I am a Michigan Pure weight loss client. They are NOT closing. The michigan stores are owned separately and are staying open. It’s sad to see so much negativity written…I’ve lost a LOT of weight, my counselors are great and I love the bars. Expensive? depends on how you look at it. I figured it out by weekly average and my program is a little over two years total…and just around $25.00 a week, including the bars! I bet i spent that much a week on fast food and junk…it’s all relative – do you want to spend $25 a week on a body you hate, or $25 a week to feel great????
I am (or was) a pure weight loss center mgr. What they have done to their employees and clients is discusting. I am sorry for all the financial and emotional pain that everyone is experiencing. I just hope everyone knows that they have the strength to suceed within themselves. Thank you for being such wonderful people.Remember, not only do we help you, but you help us. Goodbye
A friend in FL just called and said they are closing on 1/4/08. They told her she could fill out paperwork for a refund or get the bars. She just joined a month ago. I don’t think she’ll get money or bars.
I am so angry, depressed and utterly frustrated right now, that I could just SCREAM!!!!!! I just joined LA LAST WEEK, and already, DRAMA!!!! Isn’t losing weight hard enough? SHEESH!!! For me, this sucks because for the first time in years, I have begun to lose weight. I have tried EVERYTHING up to this point — Weight Watchers, Jenny Craid, nutritionists, pills, plans, surgeries, and personal trainers. NOTHING worked… till LA. Now, they’re slamming their doors on me, I JUST paid them, and WTF… now what? I’m marching in there tomorrow morning, as soon as they open, and am getting the bars they owe me. They’re not closing till the 4th which mean they can provide service for 3 more weeks, and I WANT THAT SERVICE. This is all so insane and unprofessional that I am in shock. Taking advantage of over weight people, is right up there with stealing from the elderly and cashing in on penis enlargement pills. How DARE they do this to human beings who put their faith and trust in them and their company. I am ENRAGED!!!! I don’t know where I’m going to go once they close… I’m out of options. And the amusing part is, someone said ‘Pure’ centers are staying open? Not true. All the centers in my area here in WNY, are Pure, and they are ALL closing up shop. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!
BULLITEN..RI..MA..CT..PURE WEIGHT LOSS IS OVER….I am a employee and now without a job..ALL CENTERS ARE CLOSING AS OF JANUARY 4,2008 Corporate Greed…Wondering about turnover??? Why??? Because Corporate did not treat their employees good! Employees out of work..laid off..clients terribly dissapointed and many may be out of paid for advance service…very sad…Too bad because the concept and the weight loss plan was ideal..Greed..Destroyed Pure Weight Loss…
iwas a customer with LA for three years and they gave some of us two days notice that it was closing and we found out that the owner opened another buisness (rain skin)there were several people that paid over $1500 and we were told first come first serve for refunds don’t suppot their new business they are horrible and they had just moved a new manager and her family to our town and now she is out of a job
To my clients! I truely apologize to you all for the indiscretion of the owner Vaughn Karian of LA Weightloss / Pure Weightloss. Until the beginning of this week, I have been a very dedicated long time employee of the company. I have taken much pride in my position and have enjoyed assisting all of my clients in successfully losing their weight. My heart pours out to you! I am now unemployed and do know for a fact that January 4, 2008 will be the final day of center visits for all. It is in my opinion that the online process will continue to be in tact, at least for now. For those of you who have gone through the program, followed the plan and dedicated yourselves to maintaining your weightloss, I highly commend you and ask that you will continue on and be very healthy and happy individuals. I also wish you all the very best in your weightloss success. Where do I go from here? I hear the anger in your “voices” and I understand, my question is where does a dedicated, loyal and concerned unemployed person go from here?
I work(ed) for Pure Weight Loss corporate. While it’s true that the owner, Vahan Karian opened Rain Skin Center. The rest of the story is that he closed that down and laid off all the employees after only being open for three weeks. And they weren’t given any notice either. They got let go before we at Pure got let go.
OK… all those feeling scorned…All the rumors are true. Pure Weight Loss is closing ALL LOCATIONS January 4, 2008. I’m just as upset as everyone. So please don’t take it out on the Pure Weight Loss staff (unless they are Management level–then do what you want). The cousnelors are not responsible for the terrible way that the owner and his managers ran the company. ONONE of us are getting severance or benefits. We’re all getting canned just before Christmas. And all of us are getting about 2 days notice WITH THAT BEING SAID, what do YOU do now to lose weight. I suggest that you get in there today and get whatever bars they owe you. Then ask the counselor to sit down with you and explain exactly when you’ll move from one color plan to another. For example, if you’re on the purple plan now, yo’ll be moved to the yellow plan at a certain weight. Ask them when you’ll move to the different plans and ask them for those planners. THEN ask them for all the stabilization and maintenance materials so that you can be successful. Then follow the plan and weigh in 2-3 times a week. Get the people in your home to eat healthy with you and start building an online accountability blog. YOU CAN DO THIS and you don’t need an under-paid staff of under-trained counselors. You just need the planners and the willingness to commit to it. IF YOU CAN’T get the bars, switch to SlimFast bars or, better yet, trade one protein and one starch for two bars. Trust me, the Pure Weight Loss couselors are nothing special. We’ve jst done the plan and been successful. Anyone who wants to lose weight can. I did. FINALLY, call your local TV station TODAY and ask them to get the word out. You may also want to call your attorney general so that you can get your money back before they file bankruptcy. If you ask anyone in the know, we think the company is already bankrupt.
I went to my center this morning. My counselor, was distraught. She, had been with LA since 1999, and utterly dumbfounded by the whole situation with them closing. I, am new to LA, and only signed up last week. I think that if she knew they were closing, she would not have allowed me to sign up. Today, I wanted more bars, but alas, there were not any left. All that was left, was snacks, drinks, pills, cook books, and sample lite packs. Everything, marked at 50% off. So, she sold me some things, weighed me, went over my journal, and that was it. She was kind enough to give me her number, so I guess I can call her to get the stabilization and maintenenece information, but I don’t have anything on paper as far as that all goes. She’s gone now, today was her last day, but there is someone else who will be there till the last day. I’ll call tomorrow and tell her I want the information that one of you suggested… thank you!! I called my local news tonight, and emailed them, telling them about this all. It’s just wrong. Lots of people will file over to Weight Watchers now, and they will be disappointed… WW is NOTHING like LA. I loved LA. It was working for me, and I was happy with it. Now I’m going to be stuck when I run out of bars (I have about 4 months worth, but was signed up for 6 months of weight loss), and am not sure what I will do when they run out… any suggestions????
I have a QUESTION for all you COUNSELORS who are here, reading. I think the least someone can do right now, is be HONEST WITH US, so tell me this: what is so special about the LITES. I want to know. There’s no sale to be made here, now, that’s all over with. So can I have the FULL HONEST TRUTH?? Can they be replaced with something else? Luna bars? Slim Fast? Cliff? What is so different?? I looked at a Luna vs. a Lite today — there was next to NO DIFFERENCE on those labels (it was Luna’s Chocolate Pecan Pie vs. LA’s Fudge Brownie, check for yourself). So, what gives?? If you’ve had success with the lites, and are going to run out, what do you suggest we do? I want the TRUTH here, I’m begging for it. I’ve only been with LA 2 months and I am doing great. But I don’t know what to do right now. My center did not give me all the other plans and papers … just my current BLUE plan stuff. I am 180 and have 40 pounds to lose, and I AM GOING TO MAKE THIS WORK — but I need some advice!!!
I want to know about the LITES, too. They are up on eBay for insane amounts of money and I am not buying them. There has to be something just as good, if not, better.
If someone out there had half a brain, they’d cash in on this ASAP.
Let’s talk about ‘purecontrol420’ … and ‘carb-x’. Do either of those do any good at all??? Or was that just all BS.
Don’t take it out on the employees?
Ok. That’s fine. I can respect that. Go to the centers and get the product you are owed? Ain’t happening. When I went today, the Lites were all gone, gone, gone, sister. So, I’m screwed out of almost $500 as of right now. My center has been out of stuff forever, and this is probably why. Bastards at the company probably told the centers the stuff was on it way, and stalled all this time. Scam artists.
It come it comes that is life.
I too have invested plenty of bucks in this too I do not hold
the counselors to anything its just job for them
This scam was good one and they took so many down with our bucks but just know dont count on any refund it will be in courts for a long time I heard in 20 yrs we may get something back
I want to respond to people asking what they can replace for la lites… Luna bars and pria bars are pretty close. Take the nutritional info off of the box and go to the health food store and compare it. You can find comparable product. The lites are fantastic but there is nothing special about them I promise!!
Absolutely you CAN and WILL lose your weight WITHOUT THE LITES! Go to a GNC and purchase a soy wey based protein drink. The purpose of the soy wey is that it’s a lighter protein. PURE 420 is a good product and our supply sent to each center was very limited. I will continue to check in on this site and try to assist you all in your continued weightloss.
I am a 2nd time client in NJ. I was very successful my first time, but went on to have two children and let myself go. Because I was successful and knew the plan worked, I re-joined. I have just reached my goal and ready for stabilization and they told me they are closing. My counselors are great and I wanted to cry because they are a life support to keep you on track. I will miss them dearly. ADVICE TO ALL: go to your center and get the stabilization plan and maintenance plan, and even the meal plans if you still have step downs (purple, gold, green). Continue with the weight loss on your own or work together with someone you may have met. You know what to do, just keep doing it! All diets work to loose the weight, it is a lifetime committment to keep the weight off. You can’t blame the center. LA/PURE has been great for me.
I signed up in July for “LA Weight Loss” (now Pure Weight Loss) but it wasn’t the right diet for me. I hadn’t been in nearly 4 months and a friend of mine told me they were closing. That all your unused weeks they were going to refund and any bars you hadn’t taken they would have to give you. They gave me my bars and the paperwork to fill out. I should be getting back $250 if it actually happens. Go the center and find out if they are doing the same thing there that they are doing in Connecticut.
To do the plan without bars, you go up one plan. TRUTHFULLY, clients just did better when then had at least 1 bar a day because they helped with sweet cravings and staved off hunger. That’s why protein bars in general are good. I don’t remember which order you move from plan to plan. Maybe a counselor out there can answer. I did three plans.
ORANGE (teens): 2.5 protein, 3 vegetables, 3 fruits, 3 starches, 1 dairy, 3 fat, 2 lites
PURPLE: 2 proteins (6 oz), 4 vegetables, 3 fruits, 2 starches, 1 dairy, 1 fat, 2 lites
YELLOW: 2 proteins (4 oz), 3 vegetables, 3 fruits, 2 starches, 1 dairy, 1 fat, 2 lites
I know most of us employees are really angry, but let’s at least share what we can so that ONLY THE MANAGEMENT are the bad guys. Please list the other plans (and maybe the order that the clients do them, at what weight they move from one plan to the next and IF ANYONE has stablize and maintenance info, please share!!!
To all clients and employees – I can understand your frustration. First of all to the employees, we ALL lost our jobs, its not just the counselors who got laid off. I am a manager for Pure Weightloss and have been for almost 5 years. I loved my job, as well as the people I worked for, and I can assure you that WE ALL found out the same way you did. I am going to continue to work in my Pure center until Jan 4 (please keep in mind that I drive over an hour to my center each way every day) so that I can help my clients get whatever product we owe them, as well as give them what they need to be successful. I have seen hundreds of clients over the years lose tremendous amounts of weight, and I’m absolutely devestated that we will no longer be here to help them. As far as for the clients, please remember that when you do go into your Pure center, you are dealing with employees who just lost their jobs, at Christmastime no less. We are going to do the BEST WE CAN to get you the product we owe you, and as far as your weeks, all we can do is give you an application to fill out. WE KNOW AS MUCH AS YOU DO!! Believe me, we will try to help you in any way we can!! My advice to you is call your Pure center ASAP, just please please please remember that taking your frustration out on us will not help your cause.. we don’t have to be there anymore, but we are because some of us actually do CARE!! I wish you all the best of luck, and believe me, if we could keep the centers open ourselves we would. Happy Holidays.
I would like to mention as a former employee of Pure..and with the fall out of “All Pure Weight Loss Centers” as of January 4 across the country..Their concept was perfect..”Portions and Combinations”. It was greed from the higher ups that ate away and now destroyed this well established business. Loyal Employees and Trusting Consumers suffered their brunt!
Yes, it is true..all Pure Centers are closing as of Jan. 4th. I am management at one of the centers closing and employees found out this past Wednesday. You can blame whomever you like for this, but the reality is it is happening. I deeply apologize to all those clients who are dedicated to losing weight and have found that this is the only program that works. All of you have invested time, effort and lots of money. I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss endeavors.
I ask of all clients that you please do not take your frustrations out on the staff when attempting to claim your product. We have been told we will be replenished, however, product has not been coming in steadily for months. If we had known something of this magnitude was going to happen, believe me we would have been sending product home with you much sooner.
Each center is quite different, with varying calibur of staff and knowledge. I find the comments about overweight staff appalling, since obviously they are struggling with their weight just as you have been…whether it is 10lbs or 100 lbs….we’re all aiming for the same result. Would you want to be judge about your weight when walking into the center? Then why are you judging the individuals who are trying to help you?
As far as being able to help you with the progression down of plans, it will vary person to person based on several factors..including height, how far you are from a goal weight, medical conditions, etc. Someone could drop to the purple plan at 190 lbs because of they are 5’7″ and someone else could crop to purple because they are 150 and only 5’2″. So to give you a blatant drop is very difficult. My suggestion to you is to talk to your individual counselor who can show you the progression based on you individually. Believe it or not, there was a great deal of thought put into these plans by our dieticians and even though the staff aren’t dieticians we did have to go through training and learning of the programs. Many individuals didn’t even make it through training because of the amount you had to comprehend.
Now, this comment is to all of the clients who would come into the centers who may have had “only a small piece of cake” or “but I couldn’t say no” and may have gone up on the scale….the weight gain was your fault…not the counselor. The Pure Plan was meant to be followed to a “t”…and I can promise you anyone that I have counseled in my SEVERAL years of service with the company and who followed the program 100%..LOST WEIGHT. For those who “only had a little something on the weekends”, you weren’t going to lose because you only sabotoged yourself. Follow the program 100%…eating all foods and not eating ANYTHING your not supposed and guess what…you’ll lose weight. Take it from me …not only an employee but from someone that has lost well over 150 lbs…
As for the bars, you won’t find anything comparable on the market as far as taste is concerned. They were used for several reasons, especially to crave hunger and to maintain metabolic balance throughout the day. Same goes for all the food we required you to consume…drop a bar from your day or even a protien and you were stalling your metabolism. Look for bars such as GenSoy…You will have a better result than trying to use a Cliff Bar or Luna Bar. Use up your remaining Lites then switch to the others.
I wish all employees who have lost their jobs the best of luck. To clients…keep pursuing your dream of losing your weight…it can be done and I only hope that most of your counselors have provided you with the tools to continue on your own.
Some of you care but lots of you do NOT care. My center doesn’t give a crap. I called and asked them when the shipment for my bars would be coming in. She said “Don’t know. Soon. People are waiting for them. Just have to stop in.” … and I said, “When?”, she said, “Don’t know. When you can. If they’re here, they’re here. If not, then I guess you weren’t meant to get them.” …. what the hell does that mean!! BAD. I am furious. They owe me $600 in bars and they couldn’t care less.
I’m on BLUE:
2 1/2 proteins, 3 veg, 3 fruit, 3 starches, 1 dairy, 1 fat, 2 lites
In regard to a comment earlier, how dare you say blame the management. I agree senior management most likely knew but DO NOT INCLUDE THE CENTER MANAGER in that group. That is so unfair. I am a center manager and was just recently hired at Pure…left a franchise LA Weight Center because I truely believed I had some security going to a corporate center due to gross mismanagement at the senior mgmt level in the LA centers. I found out on my 8th day of employment with Pure that the company was closing. Had I known I would have never taken this job. I am staying until 01/04 to help as many clients as I can. Will I get paid for it? Will I get paid for the last 2 weeks? At this point I have no idea. And don’t think its because I have the cash flow to do that…believe me I don’t. I am a single mom who just moved 3 hours away from my family and friends to take this job, signed a year’s lease, and yanked my kid out of school to move him with me. But I do have compassion for these clients and want to do my share to help them.
I am a center manager of LA Weight Loss. From what I understand, because we are an LA Weight Loss franchise, we will not be closing. I have no intention of believing that. I am currently looking for another job because it seems inevitable that I will be losing my current one. I would just like to say for any of you who need help, I still am employed and have the materials. I know we are all getting screwed, so any questions you have about the materials or plans, please let me know. I hate to give out personal information on here. Please don’t abuse this, but if you are someone that really needs help… my email is LA21889@yahoo.com. I will be willing to help all that I can. I am truely sorry, but I assure you that even at this point, my superiors are telling us that we aren’t closing and everything is fine, but I see it crumbling around me. Many of you didn’t have an opportunity to see the company begin to fall until it was too late. I am very lucky. I just hope there is some way I can help you all. I do not think that any of you will ever get refunds and very few of you will get some of the product owed to you. Instead of rushing into the centers, it may be better to get the LA Lites on EBAY for now until the price sky-rockets. I know you are owed bars that you have already paid for, but you will be lucky to ever see those again. Other than that, you can do the plan without the LA Lites. They help, but basically they are a crutch for cravings. However, the benefits of the Lites make most people lose weight faster. You guys don’t need the counseling or a magic program. What the program does is basically give you a balanced plan. Eat a healthy balance of lean proteins, high fiber starches, vegetables, fruits, low fat dairies, and small amounts of healthy fats. Thats it. You can do it! Just stick with that. The only reason that counseling is so important is to keep you motivated, but you can find other ways to stay motivated. Post either “skinny” or “fat” pics of yourself all throughout your house, whichever is the most motivating to you, and let yourself dream about what it will be like. Finally, make small goals for yourself, about 10 pounds at a time, and be completely proud of yourself when you reach it. Drink 100 – 120 ounces of water a day and try to get more activity. Activity can come in very simple forms. I think I heard somewhere that for every 10,000 steps taken you burn 500 calories. You can easily take 10,000 steps in one day. Get a pedometer. Thats one pound per week. Goodluck to you all.
I am on red 2 l/2 protein
3 fruits
4 Veg
l dairy
3 starch
1 fat
2 lites
i was also shocked to find out my center was closing. The counselors were so sad and distressed. My counselor sat down with me and told me what to do, gave me all the materials and wrote down for me when to move on to the next plan. I;m owed about 1200$ on Lites which I;m beggining to believe I wont see. My counselor made copies of my contract and gave me a form to fill out for my refund, which i probably won’t see 🙁 I lost 30 lbs in 10 weeks, and i plan to follow the plans….
La weight loss or pure weight loss is closing for real. I am a member of a ny based office and when I went there i noticed that the office was closed. I was wondering what happened, but when I called the center they said that they are going out of business. I am going to get my money back from the company and that’s thousands of dollars……..
I don’t get it. Do you people have nothing better to do than complain. Most of you were on the Pure/LA plan for three or more years. Come on now… excuse after excuse as to why the plan didn’t work for you or why you couldn’t make it into the center, whatever. Thank goddness for the people who are still working there until the end. They have spent years listening to ALL of your personal and weightloss problems. Listening to things that in the big picture meant nothing. Who could put up with that, even for money! Now you are complaining before you have received your refund or lites. Lites are coming! Work the plan and the plan will work for you. It looks as though you still are traveling down that road of NO CONTROL and all complain. You should have done the plan like you were suppose to and you could have been at your goal weight and much happier…keep going ladies…..The holidays are here and most of you will gain another 15 pounds….but that will be because Pure closed…right? What a joke! blah, blah, blah
I am a Weight Loss Plus employee. We have 9 centers in south west Florida and I am currently transfering out of the company. Though I believe in the program itself because I have seen for myself what it can do, the company as a hole sucks. I was sucked in by the promise of making nearly 35,000 yearly and now, I’m barely getting by. They’ve cut my hours and thankfully I’m going into medicine. I am sorry to hear from my snowbird clients their centers are closing and they feel lost and let down. I know business is business but, it seems yet again, money is considered over people. If I had known what I am expriencing now, I would have never joined the company. My heart goes out to you all. I am sorry.
Their doors are closing on January 4,2008 – their refund application that you were given within the last week states that we should allow them up to 8 weeks to process our “refund application”. We are being given a small amount of products in order for us to simmer down until they close their doors, who knows what will happen when they do. Yet within the past few weeks corporate offices decided to have a discount sale on the products that we paid in full for. One has to wonder if this was an attempt to liquidate the entire inventory, you have to ask yourself now, why was that done if bars are still owed to us? We can do something about this and it needs to be done prior to January 1st 2008.
Please contact your state attorney general as well as PA attorney general(that is where PWL has their corporate offices)

I think what the Pure Weight Loss corporation did was an absolute disgrace and fraud!!! I joined in November and within a few days they closed all of the centers in my area and the only two open were 1 hour 20 min away!!! When I called Corporate they told me i could do it over the phone with the phone center “which by the way”, was only active for a few weeks. They sold me on the idea/benefits of going to the centers and getting personalized support then turned around and told me I could do it over the phone!! They knowingly committed fraud!!! Corporate had to know that they were closing their doors when I joined yet still went after people to join knowing they were going out of business by year end. The center I was with was my third center within a few weeks because they would close one then send me to another. I asked them if they were going out of business and of course, the employees not being told a thing, said no. Is there a Pure Weight Loss or LA Weight Loss employee who can help some of us who would like to continue on our own with the plan? I can’t imagine “any” of us “ever” seeing our money again. Once they file “bankruptcy” they will be protected and we are the “last” ones who will get anything unless, of course, there is a class action filed against them. I have to say that I love the plan and it does work. I do it without the bars and other products because I am allergic to many of the ingredients. I have done great with “no bars”. You don’t need them to succeed. If there an employee who can help us PLEASE – we need you!!!! I called my center which will be open until next week and they no longer have any booklets to give me. I am on red with no lites. When do I change the plan – after I lose all the weight? Can someone who knows help.
Well, I left another posting earlier, but I don’t know if someone thought it was spam because I included a link to the program that HAS helped me lose weight! Anyway, drove past my LAWL center on the 31st and it’s closed, gone, nothing. I just tried calling franchise HQs and got into their voice mail queue. I don’t know if my center was corporate or franchise, though, no idea. Thanks, Lyn
I am a employee of Pure formerly known as LAWL…last day is tomorrow. I will be more than glad to help the woman that is on Red without lites… all I need is your height and your current weight and the weight that you want to be…. signed layed off in RI…
Does anyone out there have any information on how we can be compensated for the money L.A. Weight Loss has taken from us in the form of products. I paid for bars by the Bulk that they still owe me and, what about the money we paid when we signed up and still have months left on the program???????
I joined L.A. in March 2005.
I Lost 30 pounds on the program
I did well and it did teach me how to eat healthy.
The part of the program that I was upset about is they push you into buying the bars, I am still paying on a charge card Of $1000.00 on the lites and the lites are all gone of course and I am still paying on them. All of the counselors did not tell you the same thing. But over all I did loose the weight and the program was easy to follow. I also am interested in knowing, what other bars are out there that we can use.
I do have a sweet tooth.
I am not surprised to hear about the Centers closing. I am glad I joined in 2005 and finished the program.
HELP! I was on LA Weightloss a few years back and pre-paid for a TON of bars. I left for medical reasons and never went back. I called a few weeks ago and inquired about coming back and the woman told me that I had 10 WEEKS of bars left and I would get them back if I came back. Since one of my New Years resolutions is to loose theis baby weight, i called today and found out they are closed!!! What do I do now about my bars??? Please advise!
HELP! I was a client of LA Weightloss a few years back. It did work for me, but I left the program (for medical reasons) before finishing the program. I had pre-paid for a TON of bars and never used them all. I called a few weeks ago and the woman I spoke with confirmed that I did in fact have 10 WEEKS of bars available and if I were to come back, I could get them back. A new year resolution of mine to to lose weight, so I called today to go back and I find out that they are closed! I called the toll free numbers an can’t reach a live person – what will happen to my bars?!?!? Has anyone else had this problem???
I really feel bad for all of the pure weight loss customers and former LAWL customers. I’m a former employee who was terminated because I wouldn’t sell their line to customers who didn’t need it. You can lose weight on your own without using costly bars and scams. Drink at least 64 oz of water a day, this is a must. The water helps flush out your system, cut down on your sweets. You can have cake, just not the whole cake. Make sure that you are getting a balanced diet. Emotions and life style place a big part, not just the foods you eat. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars or even hundreds on weight loss plans to lose weight. Control and water. Eat small meals if you like to eat more or 3 meals if you like to eat less. Don’t skip meals because this can slow down your metabolism, before events drink extra water, stay away from the sweet sections in the food stores and get hobbies to fill in for the time you want to eat and shouldn’t.
I started my program in Lincoln, NE and just found out today that the center had closed. I moved to the Rapid City, SD area and they were the ones that told me about all the closings but they were not involved in any of the closings. I had placed a call to the Corportate office and they were to get back to me within 48 hours and they took 5 days to return my call but then it was just a voice mail that they left me. I should have listened to others and I should have believed what I read about LA Weight Loss. They do a switch and bait program. But this time they really did a job on alot of people. I am in my maintenance and had my first half done and they were to give me a rebate but that didn’t happen. Has anyone started a class action suit on the company???? Would like to hear from others about a class action suit!!!!!!!
I am/was a client at the LA Weight Loss Center/Pure Weight Loss in Sioux City Iowa. I reached my goal and paid for an additional year of maintenance and should have had 6 more months to go when they closed. I reached my goal without the lites (medical reasons) I just ate more vegetables and drank more water. I just feel bad for the gals that worked in Sioux City as I know they were single Moms. I will miss them but I will continue to follow the plan. Thanks gals for all your help this past 2 1/2 years.
I am employed, or I should say now unemployed, counselor with LA weight loss in SW Florida. I’m sorry to add that all centers willl be closed sometime this month. We, the staff had not found out about this until just last week. We were all wondering, as some of you were too, what was going on recently. Since December, we were not getting in our usual stock. When we questioned our supervisor, she kept giving us different excuses that didn’t quite add up to me.I told my co workers what I was wondering and whenever one of us questioned our areas supervisor we were told that we were spreading rumors. Well, of course our suspicions were correct. I’m sorry things turned out the way they did. I was with the company for 2 years and I feel terrrible for all my clients. I really do care about them. We were not out there to take advantage of you, as a matter of fact, I encouraged my clients to take what they were owed because I felt that something was going to happen.. By the way our last months paychecks didn’t clear the bank, and yet the center was still staffed by us “non caring counselors” I also want to file a complaint with the authorities, for what they did to our clients and how they treated the staff also. As for everyone out there wondering what to do with their plans, just follow your plan as your were doing and compare the labels with other protein bars out there.Choose the bar that is closest to the lites. If you wanted to eliminate the bars, ordinarily , we would have moved you up a plan. But since I’m no longer going to go to LA, I can’t help you because the plans go according to your height and current weight. Again, I’m sorry for what you all are going through, and I feel just as vindicated as you.
I am a Former employee from LA Weight Loss or Pure whatever the heck you want to call it, and I cannot tell you how THRILLED I am that they are closing.
They wanted everyone to convey that they understand how the person feels when they come in and try to convince them that dropping a few thousand dollars on friggin bars is going to help. That company only cared about the money.
And they knew that we were going to have issues with them, they make all employees sign forms saying they will not bad mouth the company even after employment.
To anyone that I helped at the centers in the Baltimore MD area, I AM TRUELY SORRY YOU WASTED YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY!!!
I live in SW Florida and they closed their doors overnight just like WA. We were all given the same line of crap from our counselors. How awful is that to make those we trusted lie to our faces?! We are all owed money! who wants there products? We are not supposed to use them with Results products so those of us who can afford to go to Results(by the way I am not one of them) would be better off with the money to pay for the new program rather than the LA bars. Alone we probably can not afford law suits but together it can be done. I left Results crying today because they told me that the 300 credit would not even get me started. I still had to pay a consultation fee as well as for the rest of the program. Ofcourse, they would not tell me how much until my appointment that is a week away. I am no longer on track for the last few weeks and am very upset. For the first time in many years, I am losing weight and now I am slowing falling backwards.
La has hurt many people. This is not just about the money but about the health of all those who needed to lose weight and now can’t afford another program.
If there is anyone else in my shoes who wants to vent you can email me @ dragonflyzgifts@gmail.com
Hi all,
I left a comment above and wanted to share with you what I found out. I left a msg with LAWL corporate and was SHOCKED when someone returned my call! Not only did she return my call, but she had to be persistent about it, as the LAWL phones would not connect through to my cell, so she called my number from her personal cell and got a hold of me! She knew exactly how many LA lites I had paid for (54 boxes) and told me that I would receive them in 3 weeks time. It hasn’t been 3 weeks yet, but I am happy to share her name and number in case someone else needs to at least get their bars they paid for. Email me for the info, and also if you want info on what I DID use to lose 40 pounds after failing following the LAWL plan.
Thanks,
Lyn

With all due respect to everyone reading this BLOG. I first and foremost would like to say to all the LAWL/Pure Employees that I am sorry to hear that your employment ended in such a horrible, hurtful way. First, before the holidays and second many of you counselors really enjoyed helping us in our never ending battle of the bulge. I believe that you should contact the Department of Labor in your state to inquire about your rights in terms of severance and getting paid for unused vacation. Maybe there are additional benefits available to you because the company has closed down verses a regular lay-off. I have been a client of LAWL on and off for many years and I do believe in the program. Each time I stuck with it I lost a considerable amount of weight. My husband and I were just talking about going back on plan with or without rejoining. We had no idea that the centers were closed. We did get things in the mail regarding their name change recently. When I saw their mailings I had a feeling that it was due to all the negative publicity they have been getting lately. Yes the program was more expensive than all the rest but if you followed the program exactly it was fool proof. I must admit that the bars were absolutely delicious but quite frankly I could not afford them. I have met wonderful counselors over the years in which we learn to laugh, cry and celebrate in weight loss together. My husband also had such fabulous results on the program and liked his counselors too. Recently in the People magazine they featured two people who has success under the LAWL plan and they looked great.
Now for all of those clients who spent their money paying for weight loss and stabilization weeks and bulk bars I feel your pain. I have been there myself it is a lot of money to fork over. Especially those of us who have tried it all with no results. I wish that all of you get your money back for weeks and bars. I wish everyone the best of luck on their weight loss journey. I am currently 5’2″ and about 235 pounds so I myself will use the books, and literature I received when I was attending LAWL. Here are a few links that might be helpful
At this website this blogger has thoroughly done her research on almost all LAWL Products and supplements and provides alternatives.
http://dietdemon.blogspot.com/2003_09_01_archive.html
There is another website that has bars that seem to be very compatible to LA Lites or Nu Lites. Once I find that website information I will post it.
I do have a few questions of my own.
I personally liked the Take-Off Juice, should I use the 40 Hour Hollywood Juice but follow the LAWL instructions?
LAWL also had Protein Shakes (Meal Replacements) which I liked very much. Which meal replacement shakes are compatible to them?
As far as the bars are concerned I liked them very much. It helped me with my cravings. I did not have luck with LUNA bars I believe that I stalled my weightloss. I might try Genisoy once I finish up on the bars I have in my cabinet.
If I anyone is willing to help me with information that I am requesting I have no problem providing information on the materials I have. I have accumulated much information from 2001 to 2006
Thanks and good luck to all of you in 2008
I am looking for a pure weight loss counselor to help me handle some of my personal weight loss clients. Anyone interested in helping me help others lose weight?
I am an LA Weight Loss counselor in Texas and I just want to inform all of you that LA Weight Loss is not closing. Pure Weight Loss is the company that closed its doors and i’m sorry to hear about those that had a terrible experience both as an employee or client. I wish you the best in your weight loss success. Just so you know the company was divided into two seperate companies a couple of years ago and the franchise side of the business has nothing to do with the closing. LA Weight Loss is still in business, i would know since i’m an employee in Texas providing weight loss help to LA Weight Loss clients.
wow, well I am glad that I saw this blog before I joined up to the one in Alabama….sounds like a rip off
I have a sister who is an employee in Oregon and she is worried about her job with LA Weight Loss. She thought they might close a few months ago, but corporate bought them out. Based on what she says, everyone should be careful and if worried, run to your center and ask for a refund…..weird things are happening and she’s even afraid to post a comment…. that’s not right…
I went to the Kennewick, Wa center on the day they closed their doors. I was given a phone # to call in Lake Oswego, Or. regarding a refund. I left several messages before a rep finally called me back. I was told at that time that the company would be issueing refunds and she needed to get my files to see what I was owed and that she would get back to me soon. After not receiving a check I left more messages. When she did call back she said the refund would be after the first of the year. In mid January 08 I called her again and left another message. At that time her supervisor called me and told me that all of the money had been disbursed and there was no money left. When I expressed my concerns and disappointment that the company was not taking care of their clients she said she would get back to me. I was not surprized that I have not heard from her again.

All the Memphis, Germantown, Bartlett, Tennesse LA Weight Loss are closing. The company is still signing clients up, but the corporate has told all the employees that the centers will be closing in a matter of weeks. Don’t sign up at Germantown, Bartlet, or Memphis LA Weight Loss centers. You will lose your investment. I think it is awful that the Germantown, Memphis LA Weight Loss are still running commercials to sign up people knowing they are closing. If you are a current member of LA Weight Loss in Germantown or Memphis Tennessee, you will notice that all the counselors are gone. They got rid of everyone, because they did not want us telling clients that the centers are closing. They wanted us to continue to enroll people for year long programs.
Anonymous, Thanks for giving everyone a heads up. I wrote a separate post about those centers. Hopefully it will save some people money.
I have seen tremendous improvement in the Mcallen, Tx location recently. It seems like they have a new staff, and the center looks great. Its not unorganized anymore. Plus, they are really helpful and positive. I used to go there in the past, and stopped going for a while, but now I can see a whole new LA, that I am back and excited.
Anonymous: It’s good to hear they have made positive changes in the McAllen LA Weightloss office. Hopefully, these will be the changes needed to keep this center open. It’s great to hear a positive review. Good luck on your weight loss journey.
I do not think it is right to single out names, I dont think it is neccessary. I think that the McAllen center has shown great improvment every time I go there the counslers are always motivating and happy to see me. I feel that they love what they do. They have helped me lose the weight I needed too. I think lots of changes have been made, but all for the better. I want it to be known also that I most certainly do not think the Mcallen center is a joke, but far from. Goodluck to all who still need to lose your weight LAWL will be there to help you on your way.
It has been 15 wks now since I earned my first rebate. After numerous inquiries at the center I
finally started demanding names of
someone to help. I feel I am just
getting put off at this point.
Promises that I should have it any day. That day never comes. I finally turned in my complaint to the State of Oregon Atty General’s office. I also intend to put it thru small claims court. The program worked well but they don’t follow thru on their part of the contract. Your earned rebate back!
I advise anyone with bulk purchases to try to get them before this whole company closes down.

BEWARE! All LA Weight Loss Centers in Bakersfield, CA. has closed without warning. Buildings are empty and clients are left wihout any warnings!
Ok, enough! If you want the real truth about La I will lay it on the line. This company is not only a joke but they don’t want to pay back the clients or employees. This is important information so please listen. If you were a part of a center that has recenctly closed this is VERY IMPORTANT for you. If you have product you did not receive or was told that you could not receive a refund on the program that everyone was going to go to LA ON THE GO this is false. Corporate did not want to have to refund anything that’s why they developed LA ON THE GO. They wanted all the clients to be made to beleive they had no choice. Less to have to deal with. I think that clients should call and start demanding refunds and product shipped FREE OF CHARGE. Clients were told that the products for LA are the best and you can’t substitute isn’t true either! Come on, that’s why they don’t tell you how many calories you are eating. Then you can shop around and compare. We all know this was/is a for profit company but LA Weight Loss does not care about it’s client. The counselors in your local center were the only ones who cared. In corporates eyes, the more you weighed the better potential client you were. Only a number!!!! I’ve give you a number, 15, 20, all……all the centers will eventually close, 8 just closed in OK and TX. There were about 20 in all that closed 2 weeks ago. My suggestion, either don’t join and find something else or get out while you can!!!!
i joined la center in march in bakersfield I believe the people workim=ng there were already aware of the closing of center at that point. what kind of ethics do these people have to have people that need to loss wieght go and join this program and get let down. I would think they were proably being paid xtra to sign up unsuspecting people. I’m so upset I didn’t look at this site before I joined. I invested over $1000. Money I didn’t have. But like others I was trying to find a program to fit my needs and got ripped off in the long run. when this center was closing I asked for a refund and was told it would take 4-6 weeks. well to the end of october and I still have not recieved anything. I have been calling the customer service for 4 weeks and got 3 returned calls telling they had to find my file and maybe have to fax them a copy of my refund. I tried leaving an email but was not able to do that since the page was not working so I called la on the go and was told to call customer service which the mail box was full. I have not heard from anyone for 1 1/2 weeks. Is there a class action suite going on to get our money back for our damages and money owed. does anyone have some kind of useful information.
Just found out this morning that the LA Centers in the Twin Cities of MN are all closing. My center as of 12/19/08. They said that they would try to provide me with my remaining paid-for product but that they had not idea if a refund of my remaining program time (9 mos weight loss; 12 mos maintenance) would be forthcoming. I started 6 weeks ago, you’d think they would have known that this was a possibility at that time.
I am an employee of LA Weightloss Canada.
As of Monday November 3rd, 30+ centres in Ontario, Canada will be shutting their doors on December 19th 2008.
Leaving hundereds of employees and thousands of clients in the dark.
In July of this year the Ontario market was bought out by the corporate US market, and the US has decided to pull out.
The company has filed for bankruptcy, and claims that that will process refunds on an individual basis, and is encouranging out clients to join LA On the Go.
This basically means that no clients will recieve a penny back! we have clients who have signed up in the last couple of weeks who won’t get a penny, and accross our market we owe clients hundereds of thousands of LA Lites.
(we arent even allowed to call med holds and inactive clients to come back to get their bars)
It is unclear if the hundereds of other centres accross Canada are in the same situation.
As for notice, no supervisors or mangers were informed of the closures until Monday Evening, many of which were laid off on the spot.
Anyone who has signed up in any Ontario location within the last 3mnths should be demanding their money back, if they refuse, give Mr Falice a call @ 1 416 645 6500, he is the court appointed fficer to oversee the proper closing of the stores. as for staff not calling their clients to notify them of the closing…anyone with a heart would be calling no matter what the corp office says!! I encourage you to go into your center and let them know what you think of them not calling clients, if enough staff get talked to about this, maybe THEY will do the right thing. remember, this is a USA company screwing Canadians! The More people voice there opinions the better chance you have at getting your money back.
Just went to my store in Maple Grove, MN. and was informed that all MN. stores will be closing in December.
I am a former employee of LA Weightloss in Ontario and I know for a fact that the employees did not know the locations were closing. However, while that may be true, there is proof that head office in PA knew that they were closing all these stores for MONTHS!!! About a month or so ago, a mass email was sent out to all the centers by a unknown head office staff stating she was disgusted that the centers were all going to close and that LA Weightloss was going to screw all of their clients out of their money and get away with it legally.
The next morning, another email was sent by the head of center relations stating that the previous email was a hoax and that they were looking for the culprit.
That email was NOT a hoax, it was an email from someone at head office warning everyone about what is happening now!!!
This email was forwarded to several news stations in the Toronto and surrounding area by several employees so they could help spread the word, but not one news station has started looking into this.
The bottom line, LA Weightloss knew they were closing their doors yet they continued to take on new clients, bulk new clients on LA light bars and THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work for LA in MN and will assure any clients that us managers WERE NOT told aobut the closing until Tues Nov 4th and at least in my center we started telling our clients immediately, which was/is 7 weeks prior to closing. By no means am I saying what is happening is right, but those of you that think we knew ahead of time and just didn’t say anything are wrong. It breaks my heart to think that my clients think we’d do that to them. As for getting people their product, we are definetly doing our best and ordering as much and as often as possible.
I do understand the anger, frusteration and abandonment feelings completely, but please don’t think that we, the employees you see daily, are responsible for it. In my center it’s killing us having to tell people, the clients we’ve come to know, love and help that soon we’ll no longer be here. We don’t want this any more then any of you. Keep in mind we too are loosing our jobs in a time of economic crisis, and have done everything we can to keep this company going. Taking out the frusterations on us might feel good -haveing a face to yell at- but it won’t do any good. I’d like to think that any of us in MN (at least, and i assume Canada) would do anything we can to help you get refunds, products or numbers to who ever you want to speak to. Beyond that there’s nothing on our level we can do.
I wish everyone luck both with product, refunds, and weight loss!
JO…our center got those emails …and I must say it made me go hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
We got our la-lites on Tuesday…. And of course our hours had been changed to Mon, Wed, Fri.So I was lucky I was there packing up and throwing away all of our clients before and after pictures they said we had to throw out, along with anything else with the, LA-WEIGHT LOSS logo on it, and put into those black opaque bags they said we had to use, Then they want us to throw them out in our centers dumpster (which is 10 feet high) oh yeah and I mustn’t forget, all the expired or soon to be expired products that need to go into those pretty black bags as well and into the dumpster…
By the way I was also told today that the only bars that were ordered in this final shipped were for active clients that came in the month of October….so of course anyone that was on medical leave or were not able to get into the center in October are now screwed if they have a bulk ….because NONE were ordered for them!
So this Fuller Landau will be getting allot of calls…. As I have had to make up little slips of paper with the information for this person/firm that clients can contact about their bars to see if they can get a refund on them.
I feel for all of my clients that trusted this company, and I can say out of everyone we have had to inform about the Toronto market going under only maybe 3% are really pissed off…. They are more concerned about what is going to happen to us.
With that being said I would like to thank all of my clients in my center for being so very understanding…. I know I am the face of the company and am glad you can see through that.
A Devoted counselor that loves her job…Jenny Craig here I come …hehehe.
I finally got a call back from cust service and I was told they are not given refunds on any bulk orders for lite bars it will take 4 weeks to get ship. I have not had any of the bars in months since center closed in august. I told I was no longer wanting them, but I was still refused my refund. Like they haven’t already done enough damage. I am still struggling with wieght but dont have the resources to pay for another program just taking one day at a time. good news I did get part of the refund. good luck to all other clients with wieght loss and refund. I am still curious why there are no class action suit against the on the go.
Was told the store was closing and I could pickup the product owed to me. Went in the week after Thanksgiving to find closed for business sign and LA to Go phone number, fax and e-mail… all of which have proven BOGUS! The phone connects to a fax line and all my e-mails were returned as “undeliverable”! I’m still owed several hundred dollars worth of product and a years service. Does anyone know of any actions being taken against this company??? Or, any way of contacting them? Anyone else with any positive results?!
My centre closed its doors today. (December 29th). I am 10 weeks into a 1 year program. I called Mastercard (i put this on my card) and they will be doing a “chargeback”. I encourage you guys to do the same…
I leaved in Québec. The Center closed in Gatineau. I am upset because they certainly knew anout the closing when I registred 1 month ago. I went to see them just before closing with a letter asking to have my 600$ back. They say yes but I dont believe them. I think that our goverment should looked after that. It is unnaccpetable that an entreprise like LA can close and go with the moyey of people…I try to call 1 800 331-4035 but they don’t answer. I am very angry.
Now they have started latoyourdoor.com Do you think this web site is a scam too. they use auto-delivery. I am wondering if they can’t refund the bars to everyone who is due them how can they be selling them online. I got this website when I emailed la on their website, (which now seems to be closed down.) requesting product.
I was with LA in the east coast of canada, and my center went under, I did not get a refund after being told I would. They kept putting me off until they went into receivership and then was told there was nothing I could do. My friend had signed up and paid 500 dollars just weeks before they went bust and didnt get a cent back.
This company is obviously a scam. It’s really sad cause the program is really good, it work great. But as we can see from all over North America they open their door take your money and then close and your left with the bill.
I’m a former employee, but I feel no loyalty (or malcontent) towards the company, so don’t worry that what I’m about to say is biased. I was with the company before they were Pure Weight Loss, and the lites were optional then. We as salespeople (though we were called “counselors” and made to wear white lab coats and stethescopes…lol) were told to push the lites as much as possible, but that if a client was REALLY against them or if they were unable to eat them (ex. allergic to soy or whatever), then we simply substituted one extra protein and one extra starch in their plan to make up for the absence of lites. I imagine that the later “lites are mandatory” policy was because the company was struggling financially.
If you still have your plan info and you wish to continue the plan on your own without the lites, just add one protein and one starch onto what you already eat. Despite the ridiculous products that this company pushed (“special” fish oil? Oh please!), the program really is good, healthy and effective. It honestly is better than Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc. You can lose a lot of weight following it CORRECTLY. I did (without lites), as did my mother (with lites).
To those who lost money because the centers all closed, there is/was a class action lawsuit. My mom bought a ton of lites a week before the center closed and subsequently never received the products she paid for, nor was there anywhere to go to apply for a refund. A year or so later, she thankfully did end getting her money back via the class action lawsuit settlement money. This was in NY; you may have to check for state-specific.
If anyone has any questions for me, you can e-mail me at prettyphillip@yahoo.com and I’ll do my best to answer them.
a year later and i still have not recieved the la lite $50.00 worth
I was a client of La weight Loss in Olean, N. Y. That center closed and I transfered to West Seneca, N.Y. About 6 months they changed the name to Pure Weight Loss, After 9
months of traveling 1 1/2 hours one way. I was informed
the company was closing. I sent in my paperwork for refund of the money I paid for the weeks left on program and stablization and maintenance. then about two months later
I was informed the company went bankrupt. I was doing well
I had lost 69#. I had 20# to go. I was totally devastated. NOw I gained 20# back. I enjoyed the lites and they really kepted me on track. I would like to recieve them again, but don’t know if I can trust the company again. If the company went bankrupt, why are you still around?
I never did get my refund so I lost close to $400.
Anyone know if there is a class action suit in Florida? I’m out about $400.
It is really sad to read that so many other people are in the same position that I have just! found myself in. My centre in Canada closed without any warning, calls, nothing. I have lost over $1500 to the LA money pit. I developed an intolerance to grains, corn and soy. They had no option for me. I developed Type 2 Diabetes so I was told to add one more starch and one more protein. Right – NOT. So I have LA lites (that taste like wallpaper paste) that I am allergic to and I still have wasted $1500.
I feel like such a fool. Any suggestions of a contact number for LA Weight loss? The numbers I have been calling are not answered and the emails are not returned.
Ijust found out that my center closed down. I tried other phone numbers but no answers. I lost 20 boxes of lites. please if anyone knows what is going on. has a number. or how they can be contacted, I would appreciate it.
I hear all the comments. So far I am out the most. Between prepaying for my visits, and prepaying for my lites, I am out about $2500.00. I have written twice, and sent the info that was given to me by the people that worked at the center I went to. I sent it certified, and it was received, but I have never heard from them. I received a card in the mail about la to your door, and emailed them today. They emailed me back that they are not responsible because they are not the same company. What bull****. I would like to know about a class action suit, if there is one in Ma. and how to go about finding out. My center closed in 2007. I am royally pissed, being a senior on a fixed income, boy could I use my money!
Is there any recourse in Canada? I have been emailing the ‘new owners’ but they have the same excuses – they are not the same company and are therefore not responsible. Fine. WHO IS? Where is that magic phone number? Any suggestions?
please if anyone has la lites they would like to sell please e-mail me at prayforsean@yahoo.com. please they can not be expired.
Anyone know of a class action suit in Tx? We lost over 8,000 dollars. help please
If anyone knows of a class action law suit in Tx. Email me info please. La to your door wont help and only say sorry for all the trouble. Also that they have nothing to do with La weight Loss. I Really need some help lost over 8,000. Also the people there would charge more to my credit without my consent. Now the credit company is trying to sue me now. help me please.
LA Weights Loss opened centres in Australia in mid 2006 only to be closed down approx 10 months later due to the massive debt held by the company (approx A$10m) so I guess it stands to reason that they were going to go bust in the States with the GFC that the Americans forced on the world.
Hi There,
My center in eastern Canada closed down as well. I did get in contact with the staff in Kamloops BC who have been wonderful with helping me continue to follow my plan and i can purchase the products still as well. Doing the at home program i have lost 24 pds and they didn’t charge me $800+ to rejoin the program. From what they told me each la is franchised owned so they are all different but the Kamloops owner now owns all the centers in bc. If you still want to follow la’s plan i would suggest getting in contact with the staff in Kamloops. They have a toll free number 1-888-338-1025. Hope this helps some people who want to continue weight loss.
